Metal Trellis

There are so many different options of trellises in the market. You will find wood, metal, and plastic trellises. Your single visit to any garden supply store will confirm this. Each type of material has its own advantages and disadvantages; I will prefer metallic trellises for following reasons.

1. Wood trellises are generally considered as the cheapest option. Most low price wood trellises will not last for long. As wood will rot in outdoors and hot and cold weather will accelerate the decaying process.

2. Plastic trellises offer you variety of colors, shapes, and sizes. A plastic trellis is probably a little expensive than a wood trellises but it will last longer. Plastic trellises have a disadvantage that its color fades away in sun.

3. Metal trellises are the best among the options available in the market. Metal trellises were once banned because of a myth that the metallic objects become too hot and can “burn” your garden; however, this is false. An easy option to avoid heat is choose a lighter color as it will reflect most of the sun rays. I suggest you to paint your metallic trellis white or any other light color; it will reflect heat and will not damage your plants.

The best metal for your trellis is aluminum. As Aluminum is very light weight, resist rusting and durable metal. It is better than steel or copper as it is not heavy and can hold on in rough and tough weathers. There are many portable designs available in metallic trellises, you can easily fold and store them.

Metal trellis can hold any type of vines, if you want to plant large and heavy vines then don’t waste your money on wood or plastic trellis. Metal can bear heavy loads and will last longer. You can paint it in any color according to theme of your garden.
